No. 15The Mountaineers continue to move up in the NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Poll. EOU improved two positions, from No. 17 to No. 15, in the fourth edition of the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Monday. Eastern Oregon is four points behind No. 14 St. Francis (Ill.)
Last Season Against CarrollLast season in the lone meeting against Carroll, Eastern Oregon used a fourth quarter comeback to claim its first victory of the season with a 35-31 upset victory over No. 3 Carroll College Saturday afternoon.
Chris McGinnis-Parker scored four touchdowns and rushed for 187 yards on 31 carries.
All-Time Against CarrollEastern Oregon is 10-15 all-time against Carroll.
Frontier Conference Players of the WeekZach Bartlow and
Jace Billingsley have been named Frontier Conference Football Players of the Week. Bartlow, who was named Offensive Player of the Week, led EOU to a 47-7 win over College of Idaho. He was 15 of 22 passing for 223 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed seven times for 51 yards and one touchdown. Billingsley earned Special Teams Player of the Week had two kick returns including one returned 55 yards.
Career Reception RecordLast Saturday, against College of Idaho, junior
Jace Billingsley recorded his 162nd career reception at EOU. This ties Billingsley with Ray Patrick for most receptions in EOU history. Billingsley looks to break the record on Saturday against Carroll.
Third Down ConversionsThe Mountaineers are converting 51.4 percent of their third downs this season. That is second best in the NAIA. They only trail Morningside (Iowa), who is converting 58.3 percent of their third downs.
Passing TouchdownsLast weekend, quarterback
Zach Bartlow threw four touchdown passes. This is his second time this season that he has accomplished this feat. The other time he threw four touchdowns in a game was Aug. 23 when he threw four touchdowns at Menlo. Bartlow has thrown for three or more touchdowns in four of the five games this season.
Looking at CarrollThe Fighting Saints of Carroll College come into this matchup with EOU with a 3-1 overall record and 3-1 in the Frontier Conference. The lone loss for Carroll came back on Sept. 6, when they fell to Southern Oregon 38-35. After the loss, the Fighting Saints rebounded to win the next three games with its last coming against Montana Western, 31-14, last weekend. Carroll is averaging 34.3 points per game and are only allowing 17.5 points per game. Leading the way on offense is running back Dustin Rinker as he averages 116 yards per game, which is 10th best in the nation.
Last WeekThe Eastern Oregon University football team claimed its third straight win, as they defeated College of Idaho, 47-7, on Saturday night at Community Stadium.
