SALEM, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University Women's Soccer team fell to Corban University, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Mountaineers recorded seven shots on the game but could not get one past Kaitlyn Mendenhall.
The Warriors looked as if they would break the scoreless tie in the first half of the contest. Katelyn Feekes took a shot but
Jessica Parker recorded the save to keep the game scoreless. Two minutes later,
Makensie Forsyth looked to put EOU ahead, but her shot was saved by Mendenhall.
Neither team mounted any offense in the first half, as EOU attempted two shots to Corban's five.
The Warriors offense comes out clicking in the second half. Within four minutes of the second half, Corban had a 1-0 lead. Ranid Donahue deflected a shot past Parker, giving Corban a 1-0 lead. Eight seconds later, the Mountaineers found themselves down 2-0 after Olivia Erskine scored from 15 yards out.
Corban kept the offensive pressure on the Mountaineers but Parker stood tall and recorded saves. In the 59th minute of the game, Corban grew their lead to 3-0 after Sierra Brusven found the back of the net from eight yards out.
The Mountaineers would not go away quietly as they continued to attack the Warriors defense.
Haley Hill recorded a shot for the Mountaineers but Mendenhall recorded the save.
Charli Torres had her shot attempt blocked to keep the Mountaineers down, 3-0.
Late in the second half, the Mountaineer's
Maddi Cillay looked to have a scoring chance but Mendenhall continued to make the saves.
Shelby Tucker and
Lexi Olivo also put shots on goal for EOU and Mendenhall recorded the saves.
EOU fell, 3-0 to the Warriors on Saturday afternoon.
