Football Weekly Notes: Dickinson State

Frontier Conference POW
Sophomore kicker, Marc David was named Frontier Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against Montana Tech. David went six-of-six on his PATs and made his 30 yard field goal against the Orediggers.

Last Time Out
The last time the Mountaineers took the field, EOU defeated Montana Tech, 45-30. Eastern Oregon scored the first 17 points of the game and led 17-0 after the first quarter. EOU took a 31-7 lead into half and defeated the Orediggers, 45-30. The Mountaineers defense scored two defensive touchdowns in the game as they recorded a pick-six and forced a fumble and recovered the fumble for a touchdown. In the contest the Mountaineers rushed for 316 yards in the game. Chris McGinnis-Parker led the way with 202 and Dominique Blackman followed with 80 rushing yards.

200 Yard Rushing Day
Chris McGinnis-Parker rushed for 202 yards on 23 carries against Montana Tech. He was the first running back since Kevin Sampson rushed for 201 yards on Oct. 2, 2010 against Rocky Mountain, to rush for 200 yards in one contest. On the way to the 200 yard rushing performance, McGinnis-Parker rushed for an 82 yard touchdown, which is the longest touchdown score since Nov. 5, 2011, when Sampson rushed for a 76 yard touchdown.

Scouting the Blue Hawks
The Blue Hawks of Dickinson State come into the game against the Mountaineers with a 1-8 overall record and 0-8 in the Frontier Conference. Dickinson State's lone win came on Oct. 5 when they defeated Jamestown, 27-7. The Blue Hawks are led on offense by quarterback Kaler Ray who is averaging 92.9 passing yards per game. Leading the Blue Hawks on the ground is Jesse Carney who is averaging 68.1 rushing yards per game.  Dickinson State is averaging 16.0 points per game, but allowing 41.8 points per game.

All-Time Series
Saturdays, matchup between EOU and Dickinson State will be the second all-time meeting between the two schools. The first meeting came last season when EOU defeated Dickinson State, 14-0, in Dickinson, N.D.

Nov. 2 is senior day for EOU Football. The Mountaineers will be honoring, Kedrick Starr, Nick Magrone, Chris McGinnis-Parker, Ray Walser, Austin Foteff, Karsen Garcia, Nick Thompson, Kyle Petheram, Michael Krafsig, Emory Jones, Marquelle Henderson and Justin McKague before the game.
