EOU Downs Montana Tech, 45-30

BUTTE, Mont. – The Eastern Oregon University Football team defeated Montana Tech, 45-30, on Saturday afternoon. Chris McGinnis-Parker led the way for the Mountaineers with 208 rush yards on the afternoon.

EOU's offense was clicking to start the game. McGinnis-Parker started the Mountaineers first drive with a 39 yard run. EOU continued to move the ball down the field. On a third and four, Dominique Blackman found Andrew Woody for a touchdown giving EOU a, 7-0, lead.

Montana Tech tried to get the offense going but the Mountaineers defense had a different idea. Ryan Watson recorded an interception to kill the Orediggers drive. Once EOU took control of the ball, EOU moved the ball down the field however, the drive stalled and EOU settled for a 30 yard field goal by Marc David to take a 10-0 lead.

EOU's defense continued to make plays, as the Orediggers drive ended with another interception. Anthony Lyngar picked off Alec Bray and returned it for a touchdown giving EOU a, 17-0 lead.

Montana Tech had an answer to start the second quarter as Clay Cavender rushed in a touchdown for Montana Tech, trimming the EOU lead to 17-7. However, Eastern Oregon continued to answer back. Blackman found Rian Miller for a 19 yard touchdown to put EOU ahead, 24-7.

The Mountaineers continued to keep the pressure on the Orediggers. After the EOU defense forced Montana to punt, Eastern Oregon scored in three plays. TJ Esekielu found Jace Billingsley to extend the Mountaineers lead to 31-7.

The Mountaineers took the, 31-7, lead into halftime.

EOU continued to dominate in the second half. On the Orediggers opening position as Gary Posten forced Dawson Reardon to fumble, which Faauiga Taala recovered for a Mountaineers touchdown. EOU lead, 38-7.

Montana Tech started to mount a comeback after EOU's defensive score. The Orediggers scored the last 15 points of the third quarter to trim Eastern Oregon's lead to 16, 38-22.

After the third Montana Tech interception of the game, Chris McGinnis-Parker wasted no time on getting the Mountaineers on the board. On the first play for EOU, McGinnis-Parker went 82 yards for a touchdown putting EOU ahead 45-22.

Montana Tech scored one more touchdown in the contest and EOU was victorious, 45-30.

The Mountaineers defense recorded four turnovers in the game. Blackman threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns.

EOU returns to action next Saturday, Nov. 2 when they host Dickinson State (N.D.). Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. PT. This is the last home game of the season for the Mountaineer and EOU will honor the seniors.
