Last Second TD Dooms Mounties in Dillon

DILLON, Mont. - Down 24-28 with just over two minutes to go in their game at Montana-Western the Eastern football team led by freshman quarterback Chris Ware marched 61 yards for the go ahead score leaving just over 40 seconds on the clock.

Unfortunatly, 40 seconds was too much time to leave the Bulldog offense.

With the Mounties up 31-28 with just seconds remaining true freshman quarterback Michah Maymia took Montana-Western down the field for the game winning score, leaving just two seconds on the clock.

The game started with 17 unanswered first half points by the Mounties but with 2:47 left in the second quarter Mamiya's TD toss to Conner Fuhrman gave the Western some momentum going into the second half.

The Bulldogs promptly registered 14 unansered at the end of the third and start of the fourth quarter before the two teams began trading scores down the stretch ending with Western's game winner with 6 seconds left on the clock.

EOU's Ware finished 19-35 for 202 yards and 3 TD's through the air while picking up 62 yeards and one additional score on the ground.

Head Coach Tim Camp saw plenty of bright spots in the Mountie performance. "Our guys played their guts out." Camp went on to say, "We have got to find a way to win the close ones. All we can do today is tip our caps to Western and get right to work prepairing for Rocky."

The Mounties will return to Community Stadium next Saturday to face Rocky Mountian College. Kick off is set for 1:00pm.
