HAVRE, Mont. - First year Head Coach
Tim Camp took his young team on the road for the first time this season Saturday. The result was a 24-7 loss to #24 Montana State Northern.
On the surface it seemed to be a run away win for the home team and a step back for the Mounties. However, things are not always what they seem.
With less than a minute to go in the second quarter the Mountie offense found itself inside the five yard line with a chance to take a 14-7 lead into halftime. Instead the young Mountie team playing in a hostile environment for the first time racked up two consecutive penalties followed by an interception.
That sequence of events allowed the Lights to take the momentum into the break and while Eastern remained close for most of the second half MSUN pulled away for the win.
The lesson. . . you must take advantage of every opportunity given. . . especially on the road.
EOU will have a second chance to pick up its first road win of the season Saturday when they face The University of Montana-Western in Dillon.
