GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The EOU men's soccer team fought its way to get into overtime with a late goal by sophomore forward
Elvis Pavon, but the Mountaineers ultimately fell in extra time to Great Falls, 2-1, on Friday afternoon.
EOU (6-2-1, 1-2-1 CCC) felt the pressure early on from the Great Falls (2-4, 1-2 CCC) offense. Senior keeper
Alfredo Lara had four saves in the first stanza, and he picked up three more in the second half for a season-high seven saves.
In the 58th minute, the Argos broke through the EOU defense, as Adrian Gomez dribbled through three defenders and found the back of the net for the first tally of the contest.
Pushing men forward for the equalizer, EOU finally capitalized in the 80th minute, as Pavon dribbled through the 18-yard box and fired a shot into the far corner, knotting the game at one apiece.
Appearing in its third overtime game of the season, the Mountaineers came up just short. Nearly four minutes into the frame, Great Falls' George Holloway netted the golden goal to doom the Blue and Gold.
