EOU Women’s Basketball Picked Second in CCC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) announced on Tuesday morning that the EOU women's basketball team was picked to finish second in the 2016-17 CCC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

With 107 points, the Mountaineers edged No. 3 Oregon Tech (100) and garnered two first-place votes. Southern Oregon, the defending conference champions, was chosen as the favorite to win the title in 2016-17 with 116 points and eight first-place votes.

Northwest Christian took the fourth spot, while Corban and Northwest rounded out the top six. College of Idaho was next at No. 7, followed by Warner Pacific, Evergreen, Multnomah, and Walla Walla.

Last season, the Blue and Gold tied with Oregon Tech for second place with a 16-4 CCC record. The Mountaineers reached the semifinals of the CCC Tournament before dropping a 51-43 decision to the Owls in Klamath Falls, Ore.

EOU kicks off the season on Oct. 28 against Simpson in Redding, Calif., at 8:30 p.m.
