Box Score OAKLAND, Calif. – The Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team improved to 4-0 on the season after racing past Mills College, 6-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
"Our team played well again today on the road," said head women's soccer coach Justin Wagar. "Any road win is a good win. Mills College came out and played hard and did a good job limiting our opportunities."
The Storyline
The Mountaineers deposited three goals in each half and outshot the Cyclones, 28-2, to ease to victory.
Freshman forward Zoe Anderson racked up two more goals on the afternoon, increasing her 2015 total to six on the season to lead the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC). In addition, senior forward Crystal Schuder scored twice to keep EOU's offense consistent.
After Anderson put EOU on the board (1-0) in the 14th minute, Schuder received a pass from freshman midfielder Megan Dimmler and scored to add to the damage, 2-0.
In the 32nd minute, Anderson beat her defender and tallied her second goal of the day to give the Mountaineers plenty of breathing room going into the locker room, 3-0.
Although Schuder notched her second goal in the 62nd minute, EOU went fairly quiet for the next 20 minutes. However, two more Mountaineers eventually paved their names on the goal tally, as both sophomore midfielder Makensie Forsyth and freshman forward Alexandria Cuaresma scored to cap EOU's six-goal effort.
Three goalkeepers saw action in the box for EOU, as junior Jessica Parker (4-0), freshman Val Gaffney, and junior Tessa Pitzer all contributed to the triumph.
"Several of our players contributed to the win today," said Wagar. "Defensively, we held our opponents to one shot on goal. I'm happy with our efforts."
