BILLINGS, Mont. – No. 14 Rocky Mountain College scored four goals in the first half, and the Eastern Oregon University men's soccer team could never recover, as it suffered its first multi-goal loss of the 2015 campaign.
"We struggled today and the score shows it," said head men's soccer coach Stan Rodrigues. "This season is about firsts, and today was a wakeup call that we need to be more prepared. That falls on me. Rocky is a great team and we learned a hard lesson today."
The Storyline
After launching four shots in the early going, the Battlin' Bears broke the ice in the 16th minute when Matthew Thomas snuck one past junior goalkeeper Alfredo Lara.
The Mountaineers had a corner kick opportunity just over four minutes later, but the Navy and Gold came up empty handed. Rocky Mountain responded with goals in the 30th and 32nd minutes to pull away with a 3-0 lead, and EOU never found an answer en route to the defeat.
Rocky Mountain extended its advantage to four (4-0) in the 37th minute to add to the damage.
