Patrick graduated from Eastern in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. He played football for the Mountaineers from 1968-1971. At the time of his induction, he holds the current school records for yards receiving in a season (851) and the career receiving record (162 receptions for 2,191 yards). He was named to the Evergreen Conference All-League team in 1969 and 1970, with an all-district pick in 197, and was a Second-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-Northwest selection in 1971. He was also the leading receiver in the conference in 1968. Patrick was named Eastern's Athlete of the Year for the 1971-72 school year. Patrick is in his 22nd year of teaching in the La Grande School District, teaching physical education at the middle school and serving his 7th year as the head coach of the La Grande High Shcool football team, after serving as an assistant under Doc Savage for 13 seasons. His team won the Intermountain Conference Title in 1990, and he was named the Conference Coach of the Year in 1992 after directing his team to a state playoff appearance. He also coached in the North-South Shrine Bowl in '92. In addition, Patrick coached boys' and girls' basketball at the middle school for 21 years.
