Standage, the recipient of the Meritorious Service Award, has enjoyed a successful career as a coach and teacher. She has been at Vale High School since her graduation from Eastern in 1974. Entering fall of 1993, her volleyball team had compiled a win-loss record of 348-68, while her girls' basketball team has won 206 games and lost 105. Mary Ann has coached Vale to the state playoffs 16 times in volleyball and 10 times in basketball, winning the state championship six times. Forty-three of her athletes have gone on to play at colleges and universities, including Eastern.
Mary Ann's coaching honors include Oregon High School COaches Association Volleyball Coach of the Year (1987, 1990, 1991); OHSCA Girls' Basketball Coach of the Year (1990); and OHSCA Coach of the Year (1988, 1993).
