Under the tutelage of Hall of Fame coach Dr. Howard Fetz, Heuberger played catcher for the EOU baseball team from 1972-75. During his career, he garnered consecutive All-Evergreen Conference catcher awards from 1974-75. In 1975, he was named to the NAIA All-District 2 team.
After receiving his bachelor's degree in education, Heuberger signed a professional contract with the Portland Mavericks of the Class A Northwest League and played for two seasons from 1975-76.
Currently, Heuberger is the athletic director and head baseball coach at Regis High School in Stayton, Ore. While serving at Regis as the baseball coach for 34 years, he has also coached football for 20 years. In addition, Heuberger is an 18-time conference baseball Coach of the Year. In Nov. 2015, Heuberger was inducted into the Oregon Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
