LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University men's and women's cross country teams battled deep and fast fields, as well as stiff competition, at the Inland Empire Invite on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College, and both Mountaineer squads ended up finishing in seventh place on Saturday afternoon.

Men's Race
With a score of 175, the Mountaineers fell in the seventh-place spot amidst a highly-competitive pool that featured No. 2 Lewis-Clark State, No. 10 College of Idaho, and No. 22 Northwest Christian.
Once again, senior Kody Shriver led the way for EOU with a 23rd-place finish overall, as he uncorked a season-best time of 25:44.
Taking the No. 31 and No. 33 spots, respectively, freshmen Jack Howard (26:09) and Lane Inwards (26:11) mustered solid performances for the Mountaineers. Howard's time marked the 23rd-fastest time by an EOU freshman in program history.
Women's Race
Freshman Amanda Welch continued to shine in her young career at EOU, as she notched her third first-place team finish of the 2015 campaign. With a time of 18:53, Welch took 27th place and recorded the 10th-fastest time for a freshman in school history.
As a team, the Mountaineers took seventh overall and competed against top-25 institutions such as No. 1 Northwest Christian, No. 6 College of Idaho, and No. 13 Lewis-Clark State.
Crossing the finish line seven seconds later, freshman Stormy Bullard (19:00) took the No. 32 spot, booking the 13th-best time by an EOU freshman in the process.

The Mountaineers return to the course on Nov. 7 for the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championships on the campus of Corban University in Salem, Ore.
