Service Appreciate Day
Saturday, Sept. 13 is Service Appreciate Day at Community Stadium when the Mountaineers take on Southern Oregon University at 1 p.m. All service members and their guests are invited to enjoy half off admission when they show their badge or ID at the gate.
 
All-Time verse Southern Oregon
The Mountaineers are 16-46-3 All-Time against Southern Oregon. In the last meeting on Nov. 9th the Mountaineers defeated Southern Oregon, 38-37. EOU took the lead after Jace Billingsley threw a touchdown pass to Justin Hernandez.
 
About Southern Oregon
The Raiders come into this week's matchup against EOU with a 2-0 overall record and 1-0 in the Frontier Conference. Southern Oregon is coming off a 38-35 victory over No. 2 Carroll (Mont.). Leading the way for the Raiders is Austin Dodge, who is averaging 301.0 yards through the air. Ryan Retzlaff and Dylan Young are the only Raider receivers with 10 or more receptions on the season. Melvin Mason leads the rushing attack for Southern Oregon as he is averaging 116.5 yards per game. Mason was named the Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week and National Offensive Player of the Week for his game against Carroll. Alex Stork leads the Raiders in tackles as he is averaging 8.0 tackles per game.
 
Passing Attack
The Mountaineers rank second in the NAIA in passing yards per game. In their only game this season, EOU's quarterback Zach Bartlow threw for 391 yards. He is the only Mountaineer with passing yards. Eastern Oregon only trails Campbellsville (Ky.) in passing yards per game. Campbellsville threw for 431 yards in its only game this season.
 
Throwing Touchdowns
For the first time since November 5th, 2011 the Mountaineers had a quarterback throw for four or more touchdowns in a contest. Bartlow threw for four touchdowns against Menlo on Aug. 23rd.  The previous quarterback to throw four or more touchdowns was Chris Ware on November 5th, 2011 against Montana Western.
 
NAIA Coaches' Top 25
The next NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 poll comes out on Sept. 15. This will be the first regular season Top 25 poll.
 
Last Time Out
The Mountaineers used a strong fourth quarter to put the game out of reach as EOU scored 22 unanswered points. Zach Bartlow led the way for the Mountaineers as he was 23-of-33 passing for 391 yards and four touchdowns. Bartlow also rushed for one touchdown on the day. Justin Hernandez led the receiving core with 118 yards and two touchdowns. Gary Posten picked up right where he left off during the 2013 season as he led the Mountaineers with ten tackles.
 
Frontier POWs
Zach Bartlow and Jace Billingsley earned Frontier Conference Player of the Week honors after defeating Menlo (Calif.). Bartlow led the explosive Mountaineers offense to a 45-27 victory over Menlo to open Eastern Oregon's 2014 season. On the game Bartlow was 23 of 33 passing for 391 yards and threw for four touchdowns. He also rushed for one touchdown. Barltow connected on five passes of 30 or more yards in the game. Billingsley earned the Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He returned one kickoff for 40 yards in the Mountaineers win over Menlo.
